Draw a Plesiosaurus

 Learn how to make a Plesiosaur drawing with this unique tutorial. It lets you imagine what he looks like both in and out of the water.


The Plesiosaur is much different than your usual dinosaur because it didn’t roam the earth… it roamed the seas! It is distinguishable by its small head, long and slender neck, broad body, a short tail, and two pairs of large paddles.

With this step by step tutorial, you can learn how to draw this very different type of dinosaur in its natural habitat. Being able to draw the water line can be used to show any kind of aquatic animal or machine what it looks like above and below the surface.


MATERIALS

  • Drawing paper
  • Black Sharpie marker
  • Crayons

How to Draw a Plesiosaurus


1.Make guidelines. Draw an oval.

2.Draw the neck.
3.Add a head.

4.Draw face and two flippers.

5.Draw back flippers. Erase inside lines.

6.Draw a tail.
7.Erase extra line. Draw water line.

8.Erase lines. Draw a background.

9.Trace with a marker and color.

How to Draw LOTS of Cupcakes

Expand on a basic how to draw a cupcake lesson by making MANY of them, adding lots of bright colors, and maybe a shadow or highlight (or both). These cupcakes were drawn on trading card size paper (2.5″ x 3.5″) and placed in a trading card sleeve. The repetition of a theme and cartoon style drawing would also make a great Pop Art lesson. If the color seems extra bright to you, it happens for two reasons. One, is that I used Sharpie markers and two, is that they are colored on fingerpaint paper. The glossy finish makes the colors just pop. The only drawback to the fingerpaint paper is that it is tricky to draw on with a pencil because you can’t erase lines very well. At all, actually. Therefore I bring it out when drawings are extra simple like these cupcakes. If fact, you might just hide the pencils for this project and have everyone start drawing with a black marker.
