How to Draw a Balloon Dog

Learn how to draw a Balloon Dog, in the style of the American artist Jeffrey Koons. His giant balloon sculpture is one of his most famous works of art.

Jeffrey L. Koons is an American artist recognized for his work dealing with popular culture and his sculptures depicting everyday objects, including balloon animals. He made quite a few of them out of stainless steel with a mirror-finish surface, and they have since been sold for records amount of money.

Aside from learning a bit about art history, and maybe why some artists focused on making art out of everyday objects, this balloon dog also offers up some fun drawing practice. The simple shapes (hello ovals!) are easy for all ages to draw, and those ready for a bit more can get some easy shading practice.

At the very least you have a fun new way to draw a dog, and at the most, a really striking 3D drawing with a bit of a nod to our country’s interesting art history.
