How to Draw the Eiffel Tower

Learn how to draw the Eiffel Tower with an easy step by step tutorial.


The Eiffel Tower was officially opened at the 1889 world’s fair. First held in London, England, in 1851, world’s fairs showcased cutting-edge inventions, architecture, and art from around the globe. The events have revealed many “futuristic” inventions, including the Ferris wheel, the television, x-ray machines, and ice cream cones. The world’s fair, which is now called an expo, is held every three years in a different city and country around the world.

The Eiffel Tower has had a colorful history—literally. The original structure was dark red. In 1899 it was painted yellow. About 50 years ago the tower was coated in bronze paint. Today the Eiffel Tower, which gets a paint job every several years, is covered in almost 16,000 gallons of paint.


MATERIALS

  • Drawing paper
  • Black marker
  • Crayons

DIRECTIONS

Time needed: 45 minutes.

How to Draw the Eiffel Tower

1.Draw 3 rectangles as shown.


2.Draw bottom tower legs.

3.Finish upper tower and top.


4.Add the vertical line shown.


5.Draw bottom tower details.


6.Add bottom tower Xs.


7.Add upper tower Xs.

8.Finish with landscape and sky.


9.Trace with marker and color.

How to Draw LOTS of Cupcakes

Expand on a basic how to draw a cupcake lesson by making MANY of them, adding lots of bright colors, and maybe a shadow or highlight (or both). These cupcakes were drawn on trading card size paper (2.5″ x 3.5″) and placed in a trading card sleeve. The repetition of a theme and cartoon style drawing would also make a great Pop Art lesson. If the color seems extra bright to you, it happens for two reasons. One, is that I used Sharpie markers and two, is that they are colored on fingerpaint paper. The glossy finish makes the colors just pop. The only drawback to the fingerpaint paper is that it is tricky to draw on with a pencil because you can’t erase lines very well. At all, actually.
