How to Draw a Lighthouse

Here’s how to draw a lighthouse on an island, step by step, with plenty of room to add some ships in the surrounding water.



The fun stripes on a lighthouse offer a good opportunity to make something look round, just by curving a few key lines. Make the stripes slightly curved, including the very bottom edge, and the lighthouse will take on a lot more dimension and not look flat.

MATERIALS

  • Drawing paper
  • Black marker
  • Crayons

DIRECTIONS

Time needed: 1 hour.

How to Draw a Lighthouse

  1. Make guidelines. Start the building. 
2.Add the top and curved lines.
3.Add windows and details.

4.Draw building behind lighthouse.



5.Add windows and island.

6.Add horizon line.

7.Draw waves, larger ones in front.

8.Add light ray lines.

9.Trace with a marker and color with crayons.

How to Draw LOTS of Cupcakes

Expand on a basic how to draw a cupcake lesson by making MANY of them, adding lots of bright colors, and maybe a shadow or highlight (or both). These cupcakes were drawn on trading card size paper (2.5″ x 3.5″) and placed in a trading card sleeve. The repetition of a theme and cartoon style drawing would also make a great Pop Art lesson. If the color seems extra bright to you, it happens for two reasons. One, is that I used Sharpie markers and two, is that they are colored on fingerpaint paper. The glossy finish makes the colors just pop. The only drawback to the fingerpaint paper is that it is tricky to draw on with a pencil because you can’t erase lines very well. At all, actually.
